Hippocampus Story Carnival
Hippocampus is spreading the joy of reading all over Bangalore with the ‘Story carnival’ that began on 17th November. Hoo’s storytellers would be travelling to Montessori all over Bangalore telling stories to the young ones, encouraging them to read more.

The Golden Arch Montessori
The children were excited to see Sumukhi who did a story session at Golden Arch Montessori. After the story the children played a treasure hunt game and all of them got HOO masks to take away home. One of the little girl had turned five and was celebrating her birthday the same day. All the teachers and children joined in to wish her and sang a song for her.
Little Elly
The storyteller met the little children at Little Elly last Friday. The children were full of energy and showed her the small cupboard where according to them lived a ghost. They later settled down as the story teller told them a story about different animals and went back with HOO masks.
Shiksha Montessori
At Shiksha Montessori, children were enthralled to see Sumukhi, one of the story tellers who had a magic bag with her with stories from all over the world. As the children gathered around her, she began a story about a little girl, Chunnu who had a holiday and instead of watching TV decided to spend the day listening to different sounds around her. The children enjoyed the story so much that they joined in with Chunnu as she laughed, ate, jumped, cried and made different noises while doing so.
The children also listening to the story of Munia, a bird who had planted a golden cherry which grew into a big tree. As the story ended, they promised to take care of their belongings and plant more trees just like Munia did!
Kidspace
At Kidspace, the younger ones listened to the story of the small girl who had stayed back home. The teachers were overjoyed to see the enthusiasm shown by the children towards the story session. The children promised to plant their favourite flowers and read more books as they took HOO masks back home.
Cherubs Montessori
Cherubs had over 80 kids who came for the story session. The story about Munia the little bird and her golden cherry captured their attention and they decided to protect their belongings just as Munia had protected her cherry plant.
Growing Wonders Montessori
The children at Growing Wonders were a very enthusiastic bunch. Thorough the story session they all kept the energy levels high by singing along with Munia as she chirped with her sparrow friends. The game had them finding the Hoo treasure and everyone took part excitedly.
Kidzee Little Hearts
The children here were a quiet lot, who listened as the story teller narrated the story of Chunnu the little girl. They also learnt about rainbows and trees during the story session and decide to go back home and plant their favourite fruit plants in their homes. The principal, Ms Hema latha was happy to see the children trying to learn new words and also enjoying the story.
Grassroots Montessori
Grassroots Kids listened attentively to the story this week and took part in game after the session. Ms Malini, the principal, took part in the session herself encouraging the kids to answer the storyteller’s questions.
The children warmed up after some time and learnt to make sounds of snake, rain and birds during the story. They also pledged to pick up more books in the future and were excited when they were all given masks to take back home!
Roots Montessori - Jayanagar
This week, the story carnival stopped at Roots Montessori in Jayanagar. Sumukhi, had the kids in high spirits as they listened to the story of Munia and the golden cherry. The children listened to the story attentively as Munia went on to save her cherry plant from a rabbit, deer and a dust storm.
After the story session, the kids repeated the story and answered the storyteller’s questions. They also played an interactive game where they acted out a cherry plant stuck in the wind and went back with Hoo masks which they promised they would take care of.
Roots Montessori – JP Nagar
The Carnival was at Roots, JP Nagar this week and the children and teachers were excited to hear the storyteller narrate a story. The children were even more excited to play the treasure hunt after the story session and pledged to take care of the plants around them and also read more stories!
