Its Holi !!!

Tie-dye is a process of tying and dyeing a piece of fabric or cloth which is made from knit or woven fabric, usually cotton; typically using bright colors. It is a modern version of traditional dyeing methods used in many cultures throughout the world. “Tie-dye” can also describe the resulting pattern or an item which features this pattern.
The earliest surviving examples of pre-Columbian tie-dye in Peru date from 500 to 810 AD. Their designs include small circles and lines, with bright colors including red, yellow, blue, and green

WORLD STORYTELLING DAY @HIPPOCAMPUS-CHENNAI 16TH MARCH, ’13

Celebrating World Storytelling Day

the story and the song

 Saturday, March 16th @ 11 am

Ages 4 and above

Hippocampus, in association with Karadi Tales and The Book Lovers’ Program for Schools, invites you to a storytelling session on World Storytelling Day.

Come join us as we tell you a story that’s all about the importance of storytelling!

The story that will be told is called The Story and the Song, a gorgeous picture book from Karadi Tales. Come join us for stories and activities all based on the art of storytelling!

The Story and the Song is based on a South Indian folktale of the oral tradition about sharing stories and music. The story brilliantly emphasises the importance that art and stories play in our lives. In its own subtle way, the book breaks gender stereotypes among children. This book is now distributed throughout North America and widely recommended in libraries, schools, and parenting journals for its multicultural values.

This Tamil folktale adapted for children by Manasi Subramaniam is illustrated by Ayswarya Sankaranarayanan.

World Storytelling Day
World Storytelling Day is a global celebration of the art of oral storytelling.

On World Storytelling Day, as many people as possible tell and listen to stories in as many languages and as many places as possible, during the same day and night.
