This weekend at Chennai

Saturday, 6th Jan’07 at 11:30am: Release of books with a reading session (All are Welcome)

Sandhya Rao, a popular children’s writer and Tulika’s senior editor will be here to release 25 new books published by Tulika at Hippocampus. Intersting picture books, bilingual picture books and paperbacks are being released with an interactive reading session by the author. Please be here by 11.30 to participate in the event.

Sunday, 7th Jan at 11.30am: Kolam decorations with Sivakami Aunty (Ages 7 & above)

The Tamil month, Markazhi is particularly important month for kolams, when fairly large sized kolams are put in front of the houses. Kolam refers to decorative artwork drawn on the floor in front of houses and in front of deities in pooja roomsThe entrance decoration is a gesture of welcome and an art which has been handed down from generations.Sivakami Aunty will teach us this art with rice flour and colours.
